About Me:
Raised in Norfolk, Virginia, I came to North Carolina to pursue my higher education. Continuing a family legacy of educators, I am a proud alumna of two historically black colleges (Saint Augustine's College (B.A.- Sociology) and North Carolina Central University (MLS). Shortly after earning my MLS, I became Duke University’s 2006-2008 Diversity Library Fellow. After successfully completing the fellowship, I was offered an extended appointment in my current position as Instruction & Outreach Librarian. I have worked in libraries for over 10 years in almost EVERY dept. I love incorporating active learning within teaching, providing professional development training, and promoting diversity. Not only do I specialize in academic libraries, but I am also a certified public librarian in the State of North Carolina.
I am married to a middle-school teacher and mother of an adorable 4 year-old son.
Where do you see the future of librarians?
Librarians will remain relevant and in demand because lifelong learning is eternal.
